Cons: Pole bends with any debris in the net when extended
"Don't waste your money on the cheaper pole. It did not last me one cleaning before the pole was bent beyond use. The commercial pole may be fine but the cheaper one is junk."

"The pole is long enough to easily reach my 9ft deep pool and sturdy enough to handle an almost full leaf rake (not from the very top pole though, it gets a little flimsy), but it just didn't last. I bought this pole maybe two seasons ago TOPS and it is already messed up. I saw reviews saying they couldn't get the locking mechanism unscrewed; this was actually not my problem. The bottom pole came unattached from the locking mechanism. This part is simply glued in and I guess the chlorine destroyed the glue? I am going to try some heavy duty aerospace epoxy (thanks to my job) to glue it back and hopefully it will work. Oh, and not that it really matters but mine was different colors; blue bottom pole and silver on top two poles. The blue is completely faded now from the chlorine and sun."

Pros: Long reach, lightweight.
Cons: Locking cams stick easily. Easy to bend.
"If I lived back in the 1600's I would be yelling "My Kingdom for a decent Telepole!"
This is a 1-2 season pole, max. The problem with this and every pole I have ever owned is the locking mechanism. After a few months of use you must be Arnold Schwarzenegger to twist & unlock the sections. I don't know if it is water/chlorine/dirt or what, but the nice easy-extending pole that came in the box turns into fixed pole after a few months. Plus, it only takes once for you or your kid to step on it, giving it the slightest bend which makes the above problem even worse.
My next/last pole will be a professional, one-piece fiberglass pole. Yes, it will cost three times what this one does, but I won't be buying a new one every 2 years and cursing it the whole time in-between."

Pros: Strong and Light Weight
Cons: Should be easier to lock and unlock pole to extend and retract
"I had this pole for a few years now and it still looks new. It stays fairly straight fully extended and with a skimmer full of wet leaves. The only negative is it takes a good amount of torque to twist/untwist the cam to keep the pole at the desired length, so don't expect to change it while vacuuming the pool bottom."

"This telescoping pole is excellent. When extending the pole, the locking mechanism is easy to use yet holds very well. While you would think having a pretty color on the pole was no big deal, it actually is very attractive especially as opposed to the standard dull silver. The handles on the pole are very comfortable."

Pros: There is none, except it will extend out farther than most.

"I really should of listened to the first review. At first glance it appers to be a decent pole.
It is easy to dent. Tapping the pole on wood railing to get bugs out of net will ding it up bad. It would not hold extended when vacuuming. I would pull it back toward me and the pole connector, not the one that you tighten, but the other end, would come out. I am not happy with this at all. The cheep one I got with my pool is much thicker gauge material and strong compared to this more expesive one. It is now broken, and I just received it no more than a month ago. Think hard before you buy it."

"My poolman even loves this one - he told me so! I can clean further and deeper without having to constantly be moving around. It's great! But it does need to be properly tighted in place so it does not collapse. It is then sometimes a little tough to loosen. That's the only "flaw" I found. I also use it to remove leaves and debris from the eaves on my roof. ONE of the best buys I've made at In The Swim!!"

"This 21 foot pole is made with very thin diameter tubing and when extended, becomes very wobbly, bending quite a bit at the joints. I am afraid to extend it too far as it will surely break.

"The two main sections perform ok they bow but don't bend, but the top section that gives it that 21ft length bends very easy, the metal is very thin and I am afraid it will break if I try to bend it back."

"Dear Dr. Pool,
I have a large in-ground pool with something everyone wants...a pump and filter system that works like a charm and has the suction power of half of Hoover Dam. To vacuum it, I bought my first telescope pole at one of the local pool stores. When I vacuumed the pool, the vacuum head was nearly impossible to push because the suction of the pool system held it in place like a pice of cement. To move it, I had to bend the telescope pole against the side of the pole to lift the vacuum off the bottom. SNAP! The pole immediately broke in half!
I went to another local pool store and bought a new telescope pole and a "premier" vacuum head with larger wheels to lift it off the pool floor a bit more, hoping that would ease the suction up. It was a bit easier to push, but in the deep end, the suction was too much and I again had to bend the pole against the side of the pool to lift the vacuum off the bottom. SNAP TWO!
I picked up the phone and ordered "In the Swim's" Professional Telepole. This 3-piece pole extends from 8 to 21 feet and has an extra heavy-duty aluminum frame that doesn't bend or break and makes vacuuming my pool a breeze (not to mention it was $3 cheaper than the second pole I purchased in town!).
So it looks like I won't be buying anymore telepoles from In the Swim for a couple of years at least.
It's a great product.

"Maybe mine is just defective, but, it doesn't telescope. The top part falls off because it doesn't hold well at all. We got it to be able to reach the middle of the pool without getting in first and it would reach if it would hold, but not this one."

"I bought this pole so I could use my vacuum without actually getting in my pool. All other poles I had didn't fit so I was a little leery but bought it anyway. Glad I did it fits the vacuum and reaches practically my entire pool!! Lightweight too!"

"I had several of the cheaper poles but none compare to the professional strength telepole. I have a 22x44 pool and need the longer reach. The cheaper poles appear ready to snap in two with my pool vac and hose on the end of it fully extended, but the professional strength ones handle the strain with no problem."

I liked the adjustments and the long length of the 1st one I ordered a 2nd one - BTW - this pole is also very sturdy
WELL the delivery service left it on my front porch with almost a right angle about 1/3 of the way down - My A2020 had gotten crimped in shipping
I contacted IN THE SWIM via email and Dr Pool responded within 24 hrs informing me a replacement was on it's way

"I have used many telescoping poles over my 20+ years of pool ownership. This one is the best one that I have owned. It is very strong and, yet, light and easy to use. It is also the longest one that I have owned. I have spent many more $$ on poles that lasted a year, or two, at the most. Then, they bend, break, stop extending, etc. If you need a pole, buy this one!"
