Pros: Easy to use, thick durable material, worked as promised
Cons: Kind of pricy for a cover, that's all I can think of.
"So I bought this cover mate before I deployed for Iraq in late 2010 knowing my wife wouldn't open our pool for the summer of 2011. We used it under our mesh safety cover. Well, she didn't open it in 2011 and then we didn't open it in 2012. We just opened the pool (Apr. 2013) after it sitting unattended for 3-WINTERS and 2-SUMMERS and the condition of the pool is AMAZING! The water was clear, there was very little algea and debris in the pool condiersing the duration it was closed. All I have to do is vacuum the small mess on the bottom of the pool and we're back in business. It definitely blocks the sun and minimizes algae growth...when I showed my local pool shop our water they couldn't believe how clear it was. Great product! I pressure washed both sides of the cover mate, let it dry, folded it up, and put it away for next winter!"

Pros: Catches fine debris, blocks sun, clear water in the spring
Cons: Very hard to clean, takes a large storage space, ultimately doesn't save time
"I bought one of these and used it for 2 seasons. I found the water to be very clean once it was removed - but then there was the chore of cleaning and storing yet another cover.
It floats but a certain amount of water does puddle in places and algae grows there, so although the pool water is clear, the cover is pretty nasty on top.
I have an approximate 20'x40' lazy L, so this thing is BIG. It has bubbles on it like a solar cover, which makes it float. These bubbles mean you can't walk on it to clean, so you're forced to fold it and clean one side at a time, but then the clean side is laying where the dirty side was just previously. I have an electric pressure washer and even being very careful it would pop some bubbles, so I stopped. An RV brush was the best but still it was very awkward trying to fold and clean it.
Once somewhat clean (I never was very successful), and let to dry, roll it up and put it, for us, in the basement - a 5' tall roll about 2 1/2 ft. in diameter.
I gave it 3 stars because, on one hand it does keep the water clean, but on the other it did not save me time or effort. I stopped using it because I found it easier to deal with pool water cleanup than to clean and store the cover. My eventual solution was to buy a quality suction side cleaner. That simplified vacuuming and my pool cleanup is very easy. I don't even use water bags any more, even though they helped keep debris from going under the cover. That saved the time of cleaning and storing them, too. The year after buying the suction cleaner I also changed from sand to cartridge filters and cleanup is even easier (no backflushing during the cleanup time)."
