Pros: Last longer and controls algae. Keeps water clear.
Cons: Expensive and very dusty. Not enough for the money.
"I use Bromine in my above ground swimming pool. It works great and i dont have any problems with algae. I put it in a floating feeder and it slowly dissolves. Lasts a long time. It is not harsh to your skin and eyes. My nephew breaks out from chlorine when i switch to bromine he hasnt broke out since. Its a little expensive for how much you get but worth the performance of the product. Dont breath in the dust from it will get you. A lot of pool stores look at you crazy when you tell them you use in your pool. They dont know much about it. Its great."

Pros: Slow to dissolve, excellent price, larger size quantities available, good value
Cons: Lots of "powder" in the packaging from the tablets
"This is the only bromine that we will use in our hottub. The value is excellent as you can purchase larger sizes at a lesser price and the tablets are slow to dissolve. We also enjoy the convenience of the packing, a bucket, over some of the other brands available."

"These tablets are packaged in separate packages in a bucket and the packaging material was disintegrating, then it was difficult to put in feeder and the packaging clogged filter or went into pool. Very hard to work with and just not worth it."

"When product arrives, most of the bags are half full of bromine POWDER which is not how it is dispensed in the brominator. So for the price it is not good. I could pay about $15 more at a local store and the tablets are solid and have much less powder residue."

Pros: Uses less chemical than chlorine - less maintenance
Cons: requires feeder - local pool stores will think you're nuts for using bromine
"I switched over from chlorine to the recommended auto feeder and the small pail of bromine. I have a 24' round above ground. I've used less product this year than in years past. I only had to top off the feeder every two - three weeks! Everything in the other reviews is right on. Less irritating to eyes of children and less maintenance gets an A++ from this pool owner. Two cons... if you have a local pool store periodically run a test on your water, they will give you the "deer in the headlights" look when you tell them you're using bromine... says a lot about the "expertise" available... lol
Also, the bags do fall apart easily... sometimes I was lucky to get them to the feeder before they came open. Smell can be somewhat more overpowering than chlorine when refilling the feeder so if you're sensitive to smells, this may be a concern (my wife is and cant handle it, so I fill the feeder). But the end result is great - I'll never go back to chlorine."

"Bromine is actually much better for your pool than Chlorine. It is rather costly but In the Swim's cost for Bromine is the best price out of all the Pool supply shops around. I shopped around and found this to be very true. Not only is Bromine good for your skin its easy on the eyes versis the sting from Chlorine. Its also good on your hair, it doesn't dry your hair out or cause your dye job to turn green. I highly recommend the chemical if you can afford it."

"The Bromine tablets are of high quality. Pail is good quality, but the bags inside are brittle and difficult to deal with. But, overall, we are delighted. We find that this is an affordable and convenient means to keep ourselves in stock of pool supplies. The pool and spa stores sell very small sized quanities at high prices. We are very happy with the service."

"The product is great. However - the plastic bag issue should be addressed. Just lifting the bags out of the 25 pound container - leaves a mess. We have been a long time customer and the issue with the plastic bags has only happened this year. Other than that - we are extremely pleased with the product."

"This stuff makes your skin so soft,unlike chlorine,also does not burn eyes or irritate skin. My water stays crystal clear. My grandson who is 5 yrs.old his skin all winter is so rough and dry.and he cannot stand lotions or anything greasy on him, it is a constant battle. We have not put anything on him since he has been getting in the pool,and his skin is so soft. I love it.THANKS."
