worst I have purchased, August 11, 2009
By sarge74

Pros: none
Cons: thin, poor quuality, improperly sized

"I have had a pool for over 25 years and have purchased numerous solar covers, most of them from In the Swim. this one is by far the worst and I will be replacing it next spring. It does little if anything to help heat the water. It is wider than my pool by about 5 inches and to trim it would mean trimming off the slightly heavier edging. This cover is so light weight that any water movement while the cover is on will push the cover to one side of the pool and a slight wind will do the same thing, even with a privacy fence. I would not recommend this cover to anyone and next year I will be purchasing my cover from some other supplier, unless In The Swim can find a quality product to replace this on with."

Great for saving money, August 8, 2009
By JMcAulay from Cleveland, Ohio

Pros: Keeps the heat in
Cons: Difficult to manage by yourself

"This cover is tops! I have had others, and for the money this one is great. It really keeps the heat in and helps keep leaves out. I cleaned it with a little bleach and water, and it came out looking brand new."

Very good, August 3, 2009
By SouthDakotapool from Rapid City, SD

Pros: Easy to size for pool, durable and easy to clean

"I have been very happy with the cover. It has stayed looking nice all season and is very efficient at keeping the pool warm and warming it up when it is sunny. It also helps keep debris out of the pool when it is covered."

good quality and price, August 3, 2009
By cabanaboy5

Pros: heat retention and a cleaner pool
Cons: none

"I have trees around my pool and the cover catches all the debris then i hose it off. It is alot easier to clean the cover than clean the pool. We have had a cool summer and my pool has stayed around 82 degrees others in the area are about 75 degrees without a cover. I have 32000 gallons of water anything that keeps it cleaner and warmer is a plus."

economical?, August 2, 2009
By toadies from Madison, WI

Pros: Does heat the pool
Cons: Showing signs of deterioration after 3 monthes

"Good for warming up the pool in hot weather and direct sunlight.
Keeps dirt and other debris out until cover is removed; is difficult to keep that material out, or directed to skimmer and so a lot ends up in the pool anyway.
Layers of plastic starting to separate and show signs of breaking down.
Keeps water from evaporating, =>seems to require less water when in use.

By snicker from Oklahoma

Pros: helps maintain water temp
Cons: hard to handle without a reel

"This is our first solar blanket. We've had it on the pool for about 2-3 weeks now. The water temp has stayed around 84 over night with several nights dipping into the mid 60's and lots of rain. During the day the water temp is up to 87-90. It is difficult to handle (18x38). I am currently waiting for a solar reel to arrive to hopefully help with the chore of placing and removing the blanket."

12M solar blanket, August 1, 2009
By Sweetpea from Audubon, Minnesota

"I bought this blanket for my swim spa. Just to help retain heat when not using the spa. Its great, you can cut it to the exact size you need and it does retain heat wonderfully. I would recommend this product to any one with an indoor swim spa, and does not want to use the big heavy spa covers that come with the swimspa."

Best compliment to Solar heater, August 1, 2009
By Flamingo from Leesburg, FL

Pros: Helped raise the water temp
Cons: Still have to crank the reel

"We are using the solar panels we bought from you to heat our pool and find we only need to run the filter four hours a day to maintain temp and water quality...and that means minimum u$e of electricity...a very good thing. Noticed that we lost an average of three degrees every night. That is usually made up within a few hours by early afternoon, but what to do if Mother wants a dip in the morning? The simple answer was to order your Solar Blanket. Pool was 90 degrees this morning and Mother is smiling...and you always want your Mom to be smiling.

PS...There's a bonus to this tale. Right after I received my Solar Blanket I got an e-mail from InTheSwim offering $10 off next $50 plus purchase and I had just spent $59. I called and was immediately credited back the $10. Great way to treat customers.

Pros: It heats my pool(16'X32)' to 82 to90 degrees and keeps most of the dirt out
Cons: tears easy

customer service the way is should be., July 25, 2009
By hawkaholic from Spokane Washington

Pros: Fantastic customer service
Cons: average product

"This is the cheapest priced solar blanket but you get what you pay for. I have bought the expensive ones before and they last maybe a year longer than these. For me this is the way to go. I originally ordered the wrong size, called customer service, and the order was canceled and product recalled from the fedex truck. Money was promptly refunded to my bank account. Ordered the correct size cover and recieved product in 3 days. WOW !!!
Thank you intheswim.com

An overall good value, July 23, 2009
By ChazthePoolBoy from St. Paul, Minnesota

Pros: Easy to install/trim and attach to the roller
Cons: Yet another solar cover with a flimsy protective cover

"I bought this cover rather than other, potentially more durable covers because of the reliability and cost. Despite using the cheap protective cover that comes with it (to protect the Cover form sun when on the Roller) these things will wear out in 3-4 years. It just happens. So I tend to buy something I can justify replacing in 3 years. Plus, I cannot justify the $8000 autocover. My 20X40 cover arrived early and was in a nice big box, but wasn't too hard to move to the backyard. I laid it on the pool and trimmed it to fit our roman-end configuration, then used the existing strap and clamp system to attach it to the Easy Roller. And is has held pool temperatures amazingly- even after a cool spell of 65 degrees F, it stayed at about 80-82 degrees. That is performance. We will stay vigilent to the recommendations to place the pink protective sheet on a rolled up Solar Cover to extend the life. Then I will buy from In the Swim again."

Awesome pool cover, July 18, 2009
By spudly from Newark, CA

Pros: Lightweight, very efficient

"This is one of the best solar covers we've purchased. It's lightweight and extremely efficient. We've had other thicker covers that didn't heat our pool half as well as this one does.

By being thinner it doesn't warp our reel or bunch up and get scraped on the pool deck when it's being rolled up.

This is now our cover of choice.

Good Buy, July 16, 2009
By Mommy3 from St. Joseph, MI

Pros: Helps warm water, keeps leaves out of pool
Cons: usually only lasts one season

"We have ordered both the blue blanket and the silver more expensive blanket in the past. They last the same amount of time. We decided to go back to ordering the blue blanket, you get more value for your money. I ordered the blanket one afternoon and got it the next day."

Excellent product for the money, July 11, 2009
By TNSWIMMING from Kingsport, TN

Pros: Product does exactly what it's supposed to - It prevents water loss due to evaporation & helps increase pool water temp
Cons: Cover will not hold up if left outdoors year round

"I live in Tennessee and the weather is generally true to each season, so the temperature here varies. I have an 18 x 36 inground with no heater. To increase the water temperature when opening the pool in the spring, I rely on a solar cover. This is my third purchase of a solar cover in the past 10 years, which I feel is pretty economical especially with times as tough as they are. Of the three solar covers I have owned, the first being a blue then a clear diamond and finally another 12 mil. blue, I am satisfied with the 12 mil blue for the money. It does all I need it to do. It increases my pool's water temp by about 1 to 2 degrees per day on an average hot day & it helps to slow down the water evaporation process. When I purchased this cover, the water temp. on my pool was at 78 degrees and within 4 days of good weather, the temp. hiked to 86. It's maintained this temp consistently, give or take a three or four degree drop on really cool 50 degree nights, which we have been experiencing lately. On another personal note and worth mentioning is that this cover works just as well as a clear diamond cover I purchased about 5 yrs ago. In fact, the diamond cover didn't even heat my pool as fast as all the advertising indicated it would and I've had more success with the blue cover. Overall, I'm very happy with the 12 mil. blue cover and to prolong the life of my cover, which so many people seem to fuss over the lifespan, I've learned from exp. to store it inside during the winter months. Of course, the bubbles are not made to withstand extreme cold to hot temperatures, so eliminate the extreme cold and bring the cover indoors (garage or outdoor storage building will do). Lastly, I went with a 12 mil cover over a thicker cover because my solar reel droops with the heavier cover and it's just overall better for the the reel I own. They all seem to heat the pool regardless of the mil."

good solar cover, July 11, 2009
By joe11741 from Long Island, NY

Pros: retains daytime heat, warms water quickly, comes with opauqe cover
Cons: could be a bit less expensive

"Replaced previous failing 8 mil cover with this 12 mil. Seems a bit more solid, works well for my situation. Keeps daytime heating in. Be sure to use the enclosed opaque (solid white) sheet when cover is rolled up (not in use), it will keep the blanket from cooking itself (in the sun) and extend the life of the cover. One other tip: run the filter for approx 1-2 hours before removing the cover & swimming. The filter/skimmer will cycle some of the super-heated water on the top 3" of the pool through the rest of the pool and raise the overall water temp."

Definitely helps, July 6, 2009
By ccogs from Jersey Shore

Pros: keeps pool warm no evaporation loss
Cons: probably best used with a reel

"I bought this cover mainly to keep water loss due to evaporation at a minimum , with the hopes it would help warm the pool. I don't think it does all that much to actually heat the pool water, but used in conjunction with my heater, keeps the water warm. This is a good feature considering the difference in day & night temperature where I live can be as much as 30 degrees , even in the summer. I have only used my heater for about an hour or so since I put the blanket on. I've had zero water loss due to evaporation. I have not had the experience of the bubbles coming off. My wife & daughter can take it off and put it on pretty easily , but if you have room for a reel I reccomend one. Pay an extra 5 bucks for the warranty just in case."

Didn't Even Last a Year, June 18, 2009
By Rustach from Rio Rancho, NM

Cons: Started falling apart after 10 months

"This pool cover didn't even last a year before it started falling apart shedding thousands of blue dots from the air bubbles in the cover and clogging my filter over and over again."
