Pros: heats pool great
Cons: they only last about one year

"These are the best over all deal. They work great, you use less chemicals, keep out bugs, leaves, and dirt. I have had a above ground pool for 12 yrs. and you can not beat the prices."

solar cover review, July 12, 2009
By SAJASTAND from Washington State

Pros: cheap
Cons: doesn't work

"I bought one for my above ground pool, although it didn't warm the top 1-3 inches of my pool water, it didn't warm the bottom half so it was still cold. Even after weeks of very warm weather it never got any warmer."

Pleased with heating abilities, July 11, 2009
By lilredhead77 from Western Pennsylvania

Pros: Lightweight, nice color, heats well
Cons: none so far

"I've been using this cover for about a month now on a 24 round pool in PA that does not get an overwhelming amount of sunlight. This cover does a nice job allowing the sun to heat up the water! We don't have any other type of heater, and this cover has heated up the water better than my old one. We've had the warmest water temps this summer since we moved in three years ago!"

By Elsbeth from Indiana

Pros: did raise the temp

"The first few days after getting the blanket the temp of the pool went up from 76 to 84. Then we had a cool down with the outside night temps at 55 to 60....the pool temp droped back to 76 but I must say that the blanket helped because the temp probably would have droped below 76 if we hadn't had it on at night."

Another quality item from In the Swim, June 2, 2009
By mstootie from Alabama

"Received solar blanket Friday May 29, 2009. The water temperature had been holding at 78*. Just 3 days later and temperature has gone up to 89*. Sounds like it's working well. Good price and it works, also quick shipping. Thanks In The Swim, I am now enjoying the pool even more."

fair value, effective warranty, March 3, 2009
By randolphmiles from Des Moines, Iowa

Pros: heats pool quite well if the sun shines, warranty that is real
Cons: blue dots in 2nd season, failure at end of 2nd season

"This year will be the 2nd year using my 2nd solar cover on 24 foot AG pool. I used the "reel deal" to purchase the first cover and the economy reel. Although the economy reel works ok and is light-years ahead of folding or rolling the cover to remove it, it is not completely easy to use since it tends to sag to much. I wish I had purchased the deluxe reel now, but I cannot justify replacing the economy reel until it fails, and it does not appear that it is going to fail. ANYWAY...My first cover began to leave the blue dots in the pool a little over half way through the 2nd season. Near the end of the season it had lost enough of the dots that the edges of the cover would no longer float and the cover became impossible to deploy and therefore became useless. HOWEVER... I contacted Dr Pool and was provided instructions to engage the 3 year prorated warranty and I recieved 1/3 of the purchase price in the form of a credit to my account. The customer service rep told me the credit was NOT restricted to a replacement cover but since I needed a new cover I used it for that. The cover does let the sun heat the water. I have found that if I run the pump during the hours when the sun is shining on the cover the overall water temperature can become uncomfortably warm... +94 degrees at times, but since the cover needs to be left off the pool during overnight pool shocking it works out quite well. The pool cools during the overnight shock, but then is a comforable temperature the day after the shock treatment. Overall I am satisfied with this product."

Pros: sturdy, long-lasting

"Great product for the price. We have a lot of trees so our covers undergo a lot of stress and this cover held up well."

super energy efficient, November 26, 2008
By vinny140 from washington twp. nj

Pros: reduced run time of gas fired pool heater
Cons: none

"I bought the solar heater and reel from in the swim at a great price almost half of my local pool store. I was amazed at how well this cover worked, i used my gas heater once to start the season and used the solar heater for the rest of the summer and had 85 degree water all summer long and saved a fortune on my gas bill. I MUST ADMIT YOU HAVE TO HAVE THE REEL OTHERWISE THE COVER WINDS UP BALLED UP IN THE CORNER OF THE YARD. The reel was easy to install and is a one man operation and takes less then a minute to cover the pool every night. I highly recoment these products and you can't beat in the swim prices."

Very disappointed, August 22, 2008
By barngazer from Eastern Washington

Pros: cheap
Cons: drop in quality

"I have been a 10 year client and have really enjoyed all product till now. I tried purchasing my second 24' round cover. New one was only 23' round. Factory defect they said. Don't sent back. Since I didn't have anything better to use, in the mean time I put it on pool. This one was lighter than previous one and everytime the wind blew it was blown to the side. Besides the seaming was horibbly done and puckered a lot. After 2 inappropriate covers were sent which I had to send back I decided to go with another company that offered clear for maximum heat. N-I-C-E!"

OK for price, June 17, 2008
By AboveGroundInNevada from Gardnerville, Nevada

Pros: Price
Cons: Quality

"This is basically a "disposable" cover that is only good for 1 or 2 seasons. It tears easily, falls apart (blue spots in the pool and filter), and is somewhat hard to manage if you don't have a storage device. I continue to re-order it because it is cheap. If you are looking for something that is durable, this is definitely NOT it. If you don't mind replacing it every year or two, it does the job for a reasonable price."

solar cover disappointment, April 20, 2008
By Juju

Pros: Ups the pool temp
Cons: Does not last

"I agree with several of the other reviews, I purchased this cover in mid 06 so I didn't use it til 07. When I was rolling it onto my reel, I noticed that all the bubbles were collapsed. They hadn't started falling off yet but if the season was longer they probably would have. I'm hoping with all the negative reviews In-the-swim will improve the quality but somehow maintain the price."

Barely lasted 2 years, October 4, 2007
By tbeb

Pros: It did what it was supposed to do
Cons: Blue circles falling off the cover in it's 2nd summer

"I got real tired of removing blue circles from the water every day. My swimming season in northern Indiana is only 3 1/2 months No problems during the year we purchased cover, which was 2006. This year the blue circles began falling off early in the season. The edge of blanket has a couple little tears in it. There's a defect when a blanket that's warranteed for 3 years starts to fall apart in less than 2 years. I will continue to purchase from "In The Swim" since this is the first time I've been dissatisfied. I don't think I'll buy the same cover again. Hopefully they have one that will last at least the length of the warranty."

average for the price, August 24, 2007
By zamp from Pennsylvania

Pros: light weight, keeps the pool temp. over night, nice color.
Cons: ripps very easy

"I have bought this product several times. It works for the pool temp. but does not hold up. It is also hard to clean and stains easily. I would still purchase it again because the price is right. You might get 3 years use out of it at the most."

Doesn't last long, August 24, 2007
By MIKES

Pros: Heats pool
Cons: Didn't last long

"I purchased my in 10/05 so I only used it for all of 06 and here it is in August of 07 and it is falling apart. Blue circles all over my pool and it is ripping. I'm calling about the warranty because it is supposed to have a 3 year warranty."
