Pros: Has a switch
"This is a great update from the older Hayward Power-Flo pumps. The new Matrix pump came with my new Hayward X-Stream filter. My old and new pumps were both 1.5hp, but the new matrix seems to move a lot more water. The switch they added to the pump was a much needed update. Only a few past hayward pumps had a switch,and it was always something that was needed. When your cleaning the filter, or doing something with it, the last thing you want to do is pull the plug out with wet hands, so the switch is great. This pump is also easy to switch from top to side discharge so you can use it with pretty much filter."

Pros: Great working pump,light weight. Cons: Not easy to open and close lid, as it doesn't have a handle.
"Hayward makes a great pump,have not had any problems with this pump. Nice feature that it converts from horizontal to vertical discharge. I will continue buying the Hayward product"
