Not flawless, but works well,
Date:April 30, 2013

Pros: Provides peace of mind, moves a good amount of water.
Cons: Internal float gets stuck shut, but is a simple fix
"I use this to help prevent my basement from flooding during the rainy seasons in Baltimore. I set it in a low spot that gives me known issues, attach a drain hose, apply power, and then walk away. It gives me the peace of mind knowing that even if I am not at home this is there working to prevent my basement from being flooded during inclement weather.
Fun facts:
- Common sense does not come with the unit; you have to order that separately.
- The pump requires 1/2" of water to turn on because there is a go/no-go switch mounted that far above the base. Without that minimum amount of water the pump will not work.
- There is a float inside the unit that can get stuck shut (mine has) when it has not been used for a long period of time. I found a simple solution: periodically check the unit, if it isn't sucking water, just pick the pump up off the ground about 6” and then drop it back onto the ground…. repeat 2-3 times as needed. While this is slightly inconvenient, it is not the end of the world.
- If you live in a colder climate, let us say Montana, and leave it out in the winter and then have a frozen hose… the problem is not with your pump.
Simply put, this unit has worked for my family and me for 3 years now. It works as advertised, but is not flawless. Regardless, I feel that it has paid for itself in both peace of mind and loss prevention."

Great but short life span,

Pros: The automatic pump works great on pool covers. I love it.
Cons: The pump works really well when it is working but it has a very short life span.
"I purchased this pump in April 2011. It worked great clearing the water off the pool cover in the spring and the next winter. Put it on the pool cover in September and as of mid October it stopped working. We have had warm weather and the pool cover smells like a swamp. I'm not sure if I'll buy another one. Hoping to find another automtic pump."

Iffy,

Pros: When it works, it works well. Customer service is good but you'll need it
Cons: Breaks too easily. Very iffy in cold weather even when it says differently.
"I have had three or four of these... some of them replacements for my initial order.
They stand behind their product but it needs alot of help. I live in a coild, not frigid, climate and was told to just let it sit on the cover all winter and that the machine would automaticaly take care of it.
It doesn't.
The hose freezes and the machine burns itself up trying to compensate.
Last winter I left it off in an attempt to solve this and to eliminate the need to send it in every year for replacement.
This is July 8th and it just gave out. :(
Not a good bye unless you want to say 'goodbye' to your money and time."
