GREAT BUY, August 4, 2009
By robodad from GLENCOE,KY

Pros: EASY TO HANDLE, ONE PERSON OPERATION
Cons: HAD TO MODIFY ONE OF AXLES TO FIT TUBE

"OVERALL, MONEY WELL SPENT, I HAVE A 24" ABOVE GROUND POOL AND INSTALLED REEL MYSELF, ROTATES OUT OF WAY FOR EASY SWIMMING"

Could use bigger base, August 3, 2009
By Bobbi from Mahwah, NJ

Pros: Reel helps to remove cover
Cons: Cylinder that holds cover is not wide enough

"Cylinder not strong enough to hold 21ft solar cover had to be adapted using the cylinder from old reel. Should have spent the money on deluxe model! Also, clamp is made for pools with 4" railing - also had to be adapted to fit properly. Would definitely spend money on deluxe model!"

reel, July 27, 2009
By TeeJay from Pacific Northwest

Pros: easy install, good blanket attachment
Cons: small tube diameter, too low to pool.

"This is probably a good reel for a very small pool or very light blanket (8mil or less). But it barely holds my 12 mil solar blanket and the tubing is bows under the weight. It doesn't clear the pool surface when rolled up and is cumbersome to open and close the pool."

worst purchase, June 23, 2009
By PTBJ from Ohio

Pros: none
Cons: inferior product

"I usually correlate economy with inexpensive, but this reel is cheap! The quality of the product is horrible. First off I had to go purchase screws to mount the unit to my pool because the ones that were shipped with it didn't fit into the countersunk holes in the brackets.
The product is described in the catalog as rigid but after assembly we attached the solar cover and wound it on the reel. I attempted to pivot the reel off the pool, but after lifting one end approximately 2 1/2 ft the reel was bowing so bad in the center that the cover was still on the waters surface. I am very dissatisfied with the quality of this item. Had I actually seen the item assembled I never would have purchased one.
We have purchased many good items over the years from IN THE SWIM, however I would not recommend this product for purchase
