warm pool,

Pros: light, easy to use & clean
Cons: maybe a little delicate, NOT cheap
"their calculator does not compute enough. Their guideline of 70-80% coverage is more accurate. I figured each Ring as 25 sq ft (close enough), by pool is 16x32ish I have 12 and they raise the temp 3 degrees & the pool looses 3 degrees at night (74 in the AM and 77 in the afternoon), I'm adding a 13th so maybe it will heat it a little more during the day and loose a little less @ night. They DO insulate much better than the blue bubbles and definately easier to handle. To clean them, I just dunk them and shake off the water, they are smooth on both side so nothing really sticks."

worst Purchase Ever,

Pros: they are quite small
Cons: Absolutely useless
"They are quite small and you are required to blow them up. Most pools will require at least 10-20 of these things. They are hard to clean and generally do not do a good job heating the pool"

Solar Rings,
September 1, 2007
By Judy
|
Pros: One person can easily handle, as effective as the solar blanket
Cons: Fragile and initial set up is difficult
"These are an excelllent alternative to the solar blanket. They are equally or more effective and certainly much easier to handle. I took the advice of one reviewer and ordered two additional over the recommended number and I think it was good advice.
They are fragile. When I received them, one had a slit before I even inflated it. The manufacturer immediately sent me a replacement, with no hassle. I have only used them this one season, and now have to patch a number of them. I do have small critters in my yard that sometime may end up in the pool and I don't know if that is causing the problem or not. I wish that the outer ring could be more like a spring float gizzmo and not the inflatable.
Another issue is inflation. One reviewer had good advice on how to do that and I wish I had paid more attention to his review before I set mine up."

They Actually Work !!,
August 24, 2007
By giantj

Pros: Simple use, produces good heat
Cons: Fragile
"I bought 10 of the solar rings and they work very well. The pool tempeture went from 70 to 80 in 4 days. The only problem I had was when you remove them from the pool, you should store them in the shade or a container, otherwise the rings will keep producing heat."

great product,

Pros: can easily take off of only part of pool, super easy for one person to take off and put on
Cons: original inflation can be difficult
"We like to use scuba in our pool and with a traditional solar cover, we need to completely remove it for safety reasons. With the solar rings, they can stay on completely while we are under the surface. Also it is much easier to take off one side of the rings to facilitate swimming laps, something that is impossble to do with a traditional cover."

Pros: All pros on this product
Cons: none
"We decided to open our pool alittle early this year so we purchased the solar rings we opened at the end of april and was swimming the first week of may I would stongely urge anyone who loves the pool for a longer season to purchase these. We received our solar rings the very same week we ordered I would not order any where else on the net thanks for all the years of great products and wonderful customer care."

not quite impressed,

Pros: easy to use
Cons: not enough heat
"I bought the recommeded number of rings and don't have as much coverage as I thought and didn't see a lot of difference in my pool temp. They might work much better if I increase my coverage, so I am a little on the fence about this product. The other positive reviews make me feel I just need more rings to see a difference."

Love Them,

Pros: Light weight and works
Cons: Expensive but worth it.
"Only bought 5 in July and wish that I had bought 15 but being retired means spacing things out. Plan on buying more as they are so easy to use and really do work."

Pros: Much easier that a solar blanket
Cons: Wind blow them
"The Solar Sun Rings are much easier to handle than a solar blanket. However, we live in upstate NY and the wind quite often pushes them on top of each other or folds them over. But since I am most always the only one to add or remove them I had trouble dealing with the blanket and these are no problem."

Pros: Heats Pool
Cons: not all lay flat
"My heater has been acting up this year and decided that I was tired of calling in the pool company. Ordered the solar rings and they are helping keep the pool at a good temp. Just need more rings than what is suggested."

Expensive Investment but worth the cost,
July 22, 2007
By greeneyedrn

Pros: This product is very easy to use and effective, especially for a round pool.
Cons: Need more rings than they recommended
"This product is very easy to use, especially for one person. It is also very effective in heating the pool water if you get at least 4 hours of sunshine. My pool got so warm I had to remove them. I did make the mistake at first of over inflating them but quickly realized my mistake and they were much more effieicient when inflated the correct amount. One thing you need to know that another reviewer stated is that for a 24' round pool I ordered the recommended 10 rings. They only covered about 65-70% of the pool. I needed an additional 3 rings to come close to the coverage recommended by the manufacturer. They are expensive but worth the investment if you want something easy and quick to use."

Solar Sun Rings,
June 19, 2007
By Wanderer
|
Pros: Pool Heating
Cons: Creasing of rim, may not lay flat.
"These rings are a great source of solar heat and work well when you have 5 or more hours of direct sunlight on your pool. They seem very efficient and are MUCH easier to handle on a round pool than a blanket!
Be patient and do not over-inflate the center or each ring. Use some of your breath to inflate the center or add a few drops of clean water to the air. The centers will bulge very slightly under sunlight and need the slight moisture to expand. This may take a day or two... be patient. Ring rim creases (if they occur) can then be flattened by slightly deflating the rim.
Remeber NOT to place then in direct sunlight when removed from the pool, they could be damaged!
Definitely a wise investment ... with virtually free heat!"

advisement for solar sun rings,
June 4, 2007

"We bought 10 ssr for a 24' round pool like it was advised, but had to go back and get 3 more to cover as much pool area as advertised. So to save money get a few more than what it says."
