Pros: cute
Cons: did not pick up any debris
"product did run in a random pattern covering pool surface, occasionally getting stuck under stairs. The run time was 60-90 minutes. The product did not pick up any debris, small particles or larger leaf pieces."

Some Shortcomings,
August 22, 2007
By Konawind
|
Pros: Discount Price, automatic operation
Cons: Battery can overcharge, not effectivive on all debris
"This product sounds great but the reality falls short of the promise. In my pool the skimmer constantly got stuck under the rim of the pool and wouldn't move until manually dislodged. I fixed this by turning the "shark" into a "Marlin" by attaching a beak to the mouth that diverted it from the rim. Two other shortcomings for me were the warning in the instructions not to leave the skimmer connected once it had been recharged -- but no mention was made of how long it took to fully recharge. This is very inconvenient. I solved the problem by plugging the charger into a timer that shuts off after a few hours. Finally, the collection of debris is "passive" and material is not sucked into the opening as you might think. This makes the debris collection very slow. I still recommend this product, but don't expect miracles."

Skim Shark Automatic Pool Skimmer,
August 22, 2007
By judyanna

Cons: doesn't hold a charge long enough
"Mine isn't very hungry. He likes to hang out with his nose up against the side and when he is "swimming" he turns away from a leaf in front of him. Good idea, just doesn't work."

Toy not skimmer,
August 22, 2007
By nespa
|
Pros: Looks great in pool
Cons: Doesn't skim enough surface debris
"It's a fun toy in the pool but does not function as a skimmer. In my pool when it got to the other side it would not turn around so battery time was wasted in the same spot until someone came to move it. Surface debris eg small insects, tree pollen was not skimmed. Basket remained empty. Like I said, a fun toy but definitely not a skimmer."

great idea,
August 22, 2007

Pros: scoops up surface debris
Cons: I needed to addd netting in front of collecting grid so small particles didn't blow out back end.
"Love the shark after a couple of modifications, saves me scimming the surface with a net before swimmers can enter the pool. Small insects and grass baldes are always on the surface, so the shark gobbles them up before I have to."

Pros: Looks neat to the kids (toddlers)
Cons: Doesn't work!
"This looked really neat when we received it and the kids were really excited but when we put it in the pool after fully charging it the thing didn't work. It didn't really suck up much of anything and the stuff that it did suck up, it took it 1/2 hour to do so. The mouth is small and it just kind of goes on its own in the pool and when it ran into the wall you had to push it because it would get stuck! A REAL PAIN!!"

Didn't work in my pool,
August 10, 2007
By billyg

Pros: charger life
Cons: Gets stuck in corners & ladders
"Didn't work in my rectangular inground pool. Would immediately get stuck in a corner therefore wearing the battery down so it would do nothing. Wouldn't pick up fine particals needs a screen instead of a basket."

Dashed my high hopes,
August 9, 2007
By mozart
|
Pros: It's cute
Cons: It doesn't work
"I had such high hopes for this product, because I really was spending too much time skimming. I charged two of these things up and put them in the pool. Not only did they get hopelessly stuck on the side of the pool and stairs; they barely picked up anything. I would not recommend this. It is hard to understand why such a skimmer which works has not been developed."

Don't waste your money,
July 17, 2007
By Janine

Pros: My 3-year-old thinks its cute
Cons: just plain useless as a skimmer
"I bought this product to help me with skimming chores, as our pool location is near lots of trees and there's always lots of stuff to skim. When I saw this product I thought it was a wonderful idea. Using it, I thought I'd be able to throw the skim shark in the pool and let it skim while I vacuum, thus reducing my pool cleaning time. Not so. This thing will not hold any large leaves, as there simply isn't room. Also, the strainer mechanism has holes about 1/4 inch square, so it won't skim any small floating items. Utimately, I found it to be useless, other than letting my daughter hum the "jaws" theme while it swims around and swallows up some small floating pool toys she has. Don't waste your cash."

Not worth the money,

Pros: Does skim some things
Cons: Stops when it hits the wall
"The description makes it sound as if the shark continually moves around the pool, but even with the jets on when the shark hits the wall it gets stuck."

Weak shark,
July 9, 2007
By Mary
|
Pros: Small, cute
Cons: Doesn't work
"This sounded like a really great product, and the company seems to have a sense of humor. Unfortunately, it all stops there. The thing has very little power, and gets stuck on EVERYTHING (skimmer inlet, anything in the pool, rope O-ring...you name it.) Doesn't work well and I paid the full price for it! (<$70). Don't get this; your time skimming with a traditional net is much less wasted than paying for this."

A good Idea but needs work,
June 18, 2007
By badger

"I have a 15 foot round metal framed pool with soft sides. My filter system has no built in skimmer, so when I saw the Skim Shark I thought it would be a perfect solution.
When I first put the thing in my pool it swam straight accross and got stuck when it hit the opposite side of my pool. After watching this happen over and over again I put a small piece of tape on the back side to cause it to swim in a circle. This improved the shark's performance somewhat but once battery power runs down a little the problem returns. Also, you can't have a chlorine floater, ladder or any other obstacle in the pool- sooner or later it gets stuck on them.
I guess it's back to the skimmer net for me. I hope I can get my money back, or credit or something."

Cons: Doesn't hold charge, Doesn't do what the ad claims
"I have had this item for approximately a week now. I have used it three times and it did not collect any debris floating on the pool. It only held it's charge for about an hour. I would not waste your money on this item. It is useless."

Waste of Money,

By SherriT

Pros: None
Cons: Stops when it hits the wall
"Don't buy this item. It only holds about a 2 hour charge. If you have a pool cleaner it gets stuck on the hose and stops. When you try to turn it on 9 out of 10 times you have to open it up and spin the propeller to get it running. Doesn't pick up small insects at all."

seemed like a good idea..,

Cons: it has to be readjusted alot
"The SkimShark seemed like a perfect product. I hate standing and skimming for what seems like forever. I figured I could vacuum the pool and let the shark do the skimming part for me. Oh no. Our pool is round, and it seemed to get stuck on nothing. Everytime it hit the side, it stayed there. Then it came upon the chlorinator and rode it around the pool. This thing was more aggravating than actually skimming it myself. I let it run until its battery went out, and it barely had anything in it. I had to get all the bugs out myself. Very disappointing."

Pros: cute
Cons: does not work as advertised
"The shark is a cute toy but is worthless as a skimmmer. It might pick up a leaf when it runs around the pool but most of the time it just moves them out of the way. It also has a tendency to get stuck and just sits there."

Pros: Fun for the kids to watch!
Cons: Hits pool side and stays there!
"Fun for your kids, but the skark swims across the pool hits the side and stays there! Your better off giving your kids the $ 70. and let them buy motor boats....or give them the $ 70. and let them skim the pool.."
