Pros: heavy and stays in place Cons: only warms top 2-3 inches of water
"Very bulky, bubbles are lasting but the glued seams quickly fell apart in the hot sun. So now it is in section. This makes it slightly easier to move but not as intended. It will soon be in 3 sections this year (3rd year)."

I wouldn't buy it!,
June 5, 2009
By qetonifrom Cleveland, OH area
Pros: The cover was easy to cut since we have a large back yard to lay out the cover. Cons: It falls apart easily.
"We purchased this pool cover assuming it would last for several seasons. In fact it began to fall apart before the end of the first summer. Little pieces of silver hexagons started showing up in the pool skimmer right away. This cover is definitely not worth the money. It cracks any place there is a crease and bits an pieces fall off into the pool water. By the end of the second swim season we considered it a total loss and threw it in the trash. The only plus is that it really does heat the water."

better than regular cover,
June 2, 2009
By ajfish78from Emmett, Id
Pros: stays put because it is so heavy, didnt blow off during windstorms Cons: didnt heat the pool as well as i would have liked, bulky to store and move
"I purchased this pool cover because we like to start using our pool early in the summer and sometimes it is just not warm enough to get the water where you want it. So i spent the money on this cover needless to say, it doesnt really do the heating job, but it did work great as a all season cover and because it was so heavy, i didnt have to worry about it blowing off of my pool when we had storms like the cheap ones that come with some pools. It has held together well, and is not falling we have now used it for 2 summers, and are starting our 3rd. I am a stay at home mom, and after figureing out a few tricks, have had no poblems getting it on and off of my pool by myself. All in all, i would probably purchase one of these again, but not for the solar part, for the actual cover of the pool because it is so heavy and stays in place."

WASTE OF MONEY,
May 27, 2009
By HUGEFROWNfrom Central Washington state
Pros: Makes good packaging for shipping stuff when you cut it up!!!!!!! Cons: Does not heat pool, very stiff, very heavy, grows algae
"The only thing this is good for is holding heat in. It actually reflects most of the incoming sun, I think. Incredibly awkward and heavy, and I am a big, strong guy. Also, in my years of maintaining an above-ground frame pool, I have never had an algae problem. I started having major algal blooms, even upping my chemicals, and ending up so mad at the cover that I cut it up and used it for packaging (and threw away the rest) at the end of the pool season rather than hassle with shipping it back. I gave it one season, and it was a disaster. I just put a good ol' lightweight blue cover on my pool, and the water is warming up nicely, I can manage it, and no algae! STICK WITH THE BASIC OLD BLUE COVERS AND SPEND YOUR SAVINGS ON MARGARITAS!!!!!"

Not Worth the Cost,
April 26, 2009
By JimEfrom Mystic, CT
Pros: Heavy Duty, holds in the heat Cons: Bubbles burst after only one season!
"No better performance than the less-expensive blue solar covers. Thought it would last longer than the lighter weigth covers, but it still deteriorated after only one season in Connecticut.... save your money and buy the cheaper one - since you may have to replace it every couple of years anyway!"

Cons: Bubbles popping after only two months
"I thought this would be a higher quality than the blue covers. Big mistake. Don't waste your money on this cover. Sending it back after only one summer."

Worst cover ever,
August 9, 2008
By Sugarfrom Gregory, MI
Pros: none Cons: very heavy, falls apart, doesn't heat!
"I thought "costs more, must be the best" I cannot handle it by myself-it takes 2, it broke my solar real, all the plastic on the bubbles is falling off, and it isn't heating, only holding the heat overnite. I only used it for one full summer and this year it is falling apart, holes and rips from it being "hard to handle". I have had pools for 20 yrs with the old blue covers....guess I will go back to that!"

Pros: Heavy duty material Cons: Doesn't last as long as warranty
"Have purchased this cover twice and the durability is poor. After three seasons the seams are tearing apart. It has become very brittle. I am going back to the 12 mil and try it. Very disappointed in this product for the initial cost. You would think I would learn."

Doesn't last,
June 18, 2008
By JET22from Bartlett, IL
Pros: heavy duty Cons: heavy & dryrot
"The cover is very heavy to move. It performed well last season, but when I un-rapped it from winter storage it was dryed up and falling apart. I have had economy covers in the past that lasted minimally 3 seasons. Would not spend the extra money for it."

Ok so far,
June 14, 2008
By jmsimo33from NE PA
Pros: Seems to do a good job holding temp at night Cons: Does not heat much in daytime
"This cover is a mystery. I love the durability of it as I think it will hold up a long time. It appears to do well holding the temp at night but like others, I have not noticed much daytime heating even with hours of full sun. It appears that those that purchased the 12 mil cover have noticed much better daytime heating."

"I will not buy this again. This is the second season I've use this and again I'm total dissatisfied. I removed it and buy pool was warmer. I'm buying a heater and will use it with it. Maybe it will work. I hope so or I'll have to buy another one. Please give me some advise to save money."

"Thumbs Down",
September 16, 2007
By Tex7
Pros: Appears durable... Cons: Didn't help much...
"Have used less expensive solar covers before which quickly fell apart so I thought I'd try the "Diamond Series"...After one week of 90+ days with the solar blanket on, the water was toasty warm for about 6-10 inches deep...Below that, the water temp appeared to be cooler than usual...Perhaps from the thicker blanket, the sun was not allowed to penetrate down much...After the blanket was removed for a few minutes, the warm temp surface water seemed to disappear right away back into the air so the actual benefits of the blanket appeared to be minimal to none...I am sending it back and ordering a cheaper "blue" model..."

Not a good buy,
August 10, 2007
By pmswim
Pros: Does heat pool well and keeps heat in Cons: Heavy, hard to handle, water got in between layers
"This blanket does heat the pool well, and keep the heat in. But it is very heavy and hard to handle! I tore a hole in it when trying to put it on the first time (like I said, this thing is HEAVY). It is not sealed at the edges, so water got in between the layers, which made it almost impossible to handle (we have a 24' round pool). For some reason it seems that the rain water does not evaporate off it as quickly as it did with our prior cover. I am going to purchase a cheaper, lighter cover for next year!"

"This pool cover is the worst product I ever purchased for my pool. The water temperature has not risen at all and ever since we used this cover we have been fighting a battle with algae."

Dissatisfied,
July 7, 2007
By KyLee
Pros: Heavy duty and will probably outlast most other covers Cons: Does not warm the water as much as other covers.
"First, there are no instructions for this cover which leaves you guessing as to which side is up. Unlike other covers that we have used, this has a clear side on the top with the bubble side being the aluminized side. Second, there does not appear to be a good exchange of heat to the water during even the hottest or sunniest of days. It's almost as if the cover is actually reflecting the sun away from the water. Third, I expected better performance for the price, but we have used more economical covers that warmed the water more efficiently. I fully expect our pool season to be shortened as a result."

Bad Buy,
June 30, 2007
By Unhappy
Pros: Keeps leaves and sticks out of the pool Cons: Excessive weight and does not help heat the pool
"I regret buying the highest mil offered. The blanket is so heavy and stiff that it is very difficult to take off or get it on the pool. The sun is not allowed to go through the lining to heat the water, so our pool is colder than when we don't have the cover on at all. I will go for the cheap clear cover next time."
