Pretty Good cover,
June 16, 2009
By Travisfrom Panama, NE
Pros: Heats well and is not flaking... yet Cons: ??
"Pretty pleased with this cover. I've had this one going on my third season. I only use it late April to early June and most of September. I keep it in the (unheated) garage for months I don't use it. I've had the blue ones and seemed to replace them every year. Happy customer so far!"

Not Perfect - but helps,
May 26, 2009
By RickAfrom Westchester, NU
Pros: Definitely warms pool; lowers chemical usage Cons: tears and breaks down
"I am in season three on this cover, and it will have to be replaced next year. It is my second cover, the previous was the cheaper blue variaety. This product helps on several fronts; First, it certainly warms the pool - understand the physics - evaporation cools things - period (that's how airconditioning works). By preventing the evaporation warmth is retained. Sunlight (not heat) tend to use up chlorine. I have halved my chlorine consumption with this product. Third, it keeps debris off the pool (somewhat). If you leave some space from the edge to the reel, you can sweep the cover as you reel it in. Lastly, I have a shallow well and cannot easily refill; the loss in evaporation has saved me a few truckloads of water at about $500 a pop.
On the downside, the sun breaks down the cover. You will note that the first few feet tends to break down first as it is exposed even when reeled up. They tend to tear. I suggest covering the solar blanket when it is reeled up. Buy a top-grade reel so that you apply less resistance when pulling it out or have someone turn the wheel. This will help avoid tears. Overall, with some minor extra effort, you will a have a warmer pool and save on gas, chemicals, and water. Last year I did not use my gas heater and got the temp into the low 80's."

Worst cover ever,
May 17, 2009
By Dogpoolfrom Fall City, WA
Cons: Really poor product overall
"I have received 2 of these covers. The first one was cut incorrectly and wouldn't roll up properly. The second one was supposed to have been cut correctly but I fight with it just about every time I roll it up. I have had the second one about 6 months and it is already starting to flake.
I would not recommend this product at all."

Big Waste Of Money,
April 12, 2009
By MNPoolfrom Minnesota
Pros: Nothing Cons: Does Not Work
"This cover will NOT warm your pool. The pool warms better with the cover off than with the cover on. Not only did we waste 215.00 on the cover, the attachment kit and the protective tarp, but we probably spent at least another 300.00 dollars on gas to warm up the pool. This cover does Not work at all. BIG waste of money. The Blue one is thinner and falls apart after a season and a half, but at least it actually warms the pool."

Marginal quality,
April 2, 2009
By wxyz6789from Genoa, Oh
Pros: Does good job of heating and keeping pool water temperature. Cons: Fell apart after second season
"Have purchased two of these blankets in last 3 years. First blanket lasted one season and seperated between the layers. On the second blanket, the bubbles started flaking off during the second season. In The Swim was excellent in giving me warranty credit for both defective blankets. I like the blanket, just wish it would last longer."

Poolcover does work very well, but has problems.,
November 27, 2008
By Caterpillarfrom Greensboro, NC
Pros: It does all it is supposed to do, keeps in the heat, keeps the pool clean, reduces the need for using chemicals. Cons: After a season it starts to flake in places, the pool gets full of litttle plasitc pieces. Hassle to roll up and of.
"It realy works very well (saves a lot on chemical costs and really extends the swim season), it is a bit tedious to cover my size pool (42x21). The flaking is a problem, the good thing is that the warranty is longer than a year, so In The Swim is very good about replacing it. It would be better for them and the customer, if they find a way to make this product last longer."

Better than local pool stores!,
November 27, 2008
By Anonymous Reviewerfrom Cape Coral, FL
Pros: $30 cheaper than local store & this one is better! Cons: None
"I priced a 12 mil cover at our local pool store for $30 more than this 16 mil. I have been buying the local 12 mil covers for 20 years. This has a better feel and seems to be a better product. When i ordered this cover i got free shipping and no sales tax."

Wanted the best,
November 26, 2008
By fishermanfrom Bethlehem, PA
Pros: heavy weight Cons: Ugly silver color, did not seem to heat up pool any faster
"I use a solar cover all season, normally replace every 2-3 years. Hoping this one holds up longer, looks good after 1 season. Not crazy about the silver color and it does not appear to have any effect on heating up or cooling down of pool"

Quality concerns,
November 22, 2008
By Georgesfrom California
"Had to ask for a replacement after only one season. Air pockets started to form all over the cover, separating the two layers. The company did not acknowledge if that particular defect was fixed or not, so I'm hoping it won't happen again next season."

Saved a Ton of cash,
July 23, 2008
By Anonymous Reviewerfrom NE Ohio
Pros: Quick shipping; great over all cover Cons: Hard to roll in.
"We were going to purchase the 12mil, but it was on backorder and after receiving an estimate to fix our gas heater we opted to order the 16 mil. It heated up 10 degrees within a week. In addition, we saved an entire month of gas budget cost and projected to save close to $500.00 this year alone. We felt even if we had to buy a new one every 3 years it was well worth it."

Pros: None Cons: Fell apart in less than 2 yrs
"This cover didn't even last a full 2 yrs. the air pockets popped off and plugged strainer. Blanket is poorly constructed, separated, doesn't heat pool at all, had better luck with the blanket off during sunny days. What a mess...."

solar waranty?,
June 12, 2008
By jackfrom California
Pros: great solar blanket for limited time Cons: 8 year waranty lasted only 3 years
"8 year waranty on a solar blanket lasted only 3 years when the layers separted and absorbed so much water we could not remove it without extreme difficulty from pool. Have asked In The Swim for a replacement"

Not what I had in mind,
August 15, 2007
By goldenboy
Pros: Heavy Duty. Good heat retention at night. Cons: Poor heating capability on sunny days.
"If you live in a warm climate and just want a cover to keep in the heat at night, this works great. It's horrible at heating the water on a sunny day. Probably because it's so heavy. My old crumbling blue cover did a much better job heating up the pool. I actually get better results heating up the pool on a sunny day with the cover off! If you are looking for a cover to heat your pool water, look at something different."

I love it!,
August 10, 2007
By prima
"This is the 3rd type of solar blanket we have owned. Being clear, I haven't had the cells cracking due to excess heat problem, AND I can see thru it somewhat, which I like. 'don't know if this is typical, but this blanket is a bit wider than the prior ones (we ordered for a 16 X 32 pool), which is GREAT. The blanket goes up the side of the pool a bit on each side, keeping water off the blanket and allowing me to (gently) sweep leaves, etc. into a pile, then throw them into my leaf, etc. bucket BEFORE rolling blanket off pool, thus saving a bunch of skim time. Of course, it's also warming our water/preserving heat and keeping stuff out of the pool."

High Quality Pool Cover,

Pros: Lower cost to heat Cons: Size misnomer
"After learning how to properly install a pool cover (call to learn more) I bought the right size and fitted this product to the point that the pool is totally covered and retains heat far better."

"I'm probably getting what I want, a durable solar cover. But I don't believe it heats as good as the darker colored covers and it does bow my commercial grade solar reel quite a bit."
