1st one great, 2nd one not worth it, August 9, 2009

Pros: Leave it hooked up all the time and have a clean pool
Cons: Hose from unit to debris bag disconnects.

"I purchased this product about 6 years ago and it worked great - 5 stars! I would leave it hooked up all week with no problems and pool maintenance was minimal. The hose from the unit to the debris bag finally gave out and is not offered as a separate item so I purchased a new unit. After 4 months, the hose on the new unit has started to disconnect from the unit causing the unit to stop moving around the pool and preventing the return of filtered/chlorinated pool water from properly circulating and requiring a lot more pool maintenance. I give the new unit 1 star rating. Overall 3 star rating as a combination of the two."

Polaris 65, July 27, 2009
By Anita from Fredericktown, MO (read all my reviews) (read all my reviews)

Pros: Keeps on going and going
Cons: The new one isn't as good as the older ones

"I purchased my first Polaris 65 several years ago. I would not have had to purchase another one, but I needed to replace all the hoses, etc. I thought for the price, I would just buy a complete new one. However, I found the new one does not work as well as my old one. I actually am using my old cleaner with the new hoses and it's working perfectly. I wish I would have purchased just what I needed, but you live and learn. Anyway, the old blue and yellow 65 is the best."

Disappointed three times, July 27, 2009
By poolcleaner from Westminster, MD (read all my reviews) (read all my reviews)

Pros: Works well for a short time
Cons: Stops working and only goes forward or backward

"I am working on my third polaris 65 in the last 5 seasons. It seems they have a problem with the little ball that gets jammed and it will only go in one direction. This prevents it from cleaning the entire surface of the pool bottom. It is wonderful when it works properly but all three of them have eventually done exactly the same thing. I was surprised that I only read one other review that mentioned this problem. This last one only lasted for about two months. I hope that this problem can be fixed."

Excellent product, July 25, 2009
By Youngun from Lancaster, OH (read all my reviews) (read all my reviews)

Pros: Plugs in to outtake rather than intake
Cons: Doesn't always cover entire pool area

"This is the second Polaris 65 I have owned. I had the first one over 10 years and liked it so much I bought a new one when the main piece of it eventually got broken. It doesn't plug in to the intake of the pool, so you can continue putting chlorine tablets in the skimmer and having it skim off the top of the water. It instead plugs into the outtake and does an excellent job of keeping the bottom of the pool clean of bugs and debris. I do have a little trouble keeping the area around the skimmer/outtake clean. For some reason it doesn't want to clean around that area as well as it does the rest of the pool. I still think it's the best automatic pool cleaner you can buy."
