Great accessory,
September 23, 2009

Pros: Cuts leaf clean up time by at least half
"I don't necessarily leave reviews unless the product really works well. This is a great tool/accessory if you have a lot of leaves to clean out of your pool. I bought one in the spring for start up and used it again for fall clean up. It works just as described and the leaves do not get into your filter. I did follow the advice from other reviewers and put in a tennis ball to keep the bag floating upward. You could also use an empty plastic water/soda bottle. Another suggestion I have is to replace the string that comes with the bag with heavier cord. I used very thin plastic coated rope/string like you would use for a quick clothes line and I replaced the tab to keep the bag closed with a small spring tab like the kind that keep sweatshirts or jacket ties from coming out. Worked great for taking off the bag to empty the leaves. Way easier."

Pros: Really works well for the price
Cons: emptying the bag can be a pain
"Great product for the price. Easy and inexpensive way to suck up leaves, especially if water is not clear enough to see the bottom. Plus, ordered on a Friday evening (after 4:00 p.m.) and received the next day on Saturday. Great product, fast service!!"

Great purchase,

Pros: Easy to use, cleanup is quick and easy
Cons: If the bag gets to full it will come off.
"This has been the easiest way to get the leafs off the bottom of the pool. If I used the robot it would fill up to quickly and it takes to long to clean. If I used the net to scoop them up I would end up just moving a bunch of leafs around. The leaf gulper does its job and is easy to clean."

Love this Gulper,
July 11, 2009
By Poolwoman

Pros: Really gets the leaves on the bottom of the pool.
Cons: Changing the bag
"I have had a problem with my pool for years. We have a lot of trees in our back yard, and every year there seems to be more and more leaves that land on the bottom of the pool. I vac and vac, it just sends the brown water and mess back through the filter. With the leaf Gulper I can just vac the bottom without running it through the filter. This actually saves time and money. I would recommend it to anyone who has a leaf problem. We don't want to spend or free time cleaning the pool when we could be enjoying it. Have a great summer."

"This is the easiest piece of equipment to use. It gets up all the leaves so quickly. The part that attaches to the guide pole did break at the end of last season, but we loved it so much we are buying another one. Such a great price for the performance!!"

Pros: It is a pro
Cons: There isn't one
"I hated to vaccum the pool because of all the leafs that fell into the water. I bought leaf gulper & what a miracle it is. I don't mind to vaccum now because it is so simple to hook up & use. It is magic. I love it & would recommend anyone to get one. You will not regret it."

IT does what needs to be done,

Pros: Cheapest way to get those pesky leaves out of your pool
Cons: Sometimes difficult to get nylon mesh tight
"Not fancy, but it does get the leaves out of your pool. My neighbor has large tress that overhang our pool, so every fall we have TONS of leaves in the pool.
This "leaf gulper" does the job - sure there are more expensive products that do it quicker, but if you can't afford or don't really need them, then this product will do the trick"

A little disappointed,

Pros: Easy to put together
Cons: Damaged pool liner!
"I rarely get a bad product from IN THE SWIM. This came with no paperwork, instructions, etc. Parts of it were apparently broken - the brushes on the bottom. I did get it back together and figure how to use it. However, I wish I hadn't. The edges were so sharp that it made slices in my liner. Anyone know a diver willing to dive in 35 degree weather? It did work on large leaves."

Not That Great,

By lid0l4l

Pros: Cheap
Cons: Scatters 80% of the debris
"Most of the debris just disperses into the water, and later settles back to the center of the pool. The mesh bag does stay on, because the nylon twine does stay tight around the collar."

THIS IS THE ANSWER!!!,

Pros: Cheap, easy to operate, very simple design, picks up EVERYTHING!
Cons: Kind of a pain to push the hose around
"After spending $400 on an automatic cleaner and being EXTREMELY disappointed, I read the reviews for the leaf gulper and ordered it. I am SOOOOO impressed by it's simple design and it's performance is OUTSTANDING! I didn't have the pool covered last fall before a major storm rolled through. I had leaves, pine cones & even leaves from corn stalks in the bottom of my pool and figured I'd NEVER get it clean. I knew I was asking a lot from any cleaner...but the leaf gulper far passed any expectations! The pressure from your garden hose BLASTS the debris off the bottom & sides of your pool and the gunk just goes right into the bag! It's so simple & effective! UNBELIEVABLE! I was done with my entire pool in about 30 minutes!!! It went from looking like a frog habitat to sparkling clean in less time than it took to figure out the high priced automatic thing!! I will NEVER BE WITHOUT THE LEAF GULPER as long as I own a pool!!!"

A Must Have Spring and Fall,
June 9, 2008
By NHDogDoc

Pros: Easy to use; lightweight; kids think its fun
Cons: the slip tie on the bags breaks but its easy to tie a knot
"We love our Leaf Gulper! Our pool is surrounded by neighborhood trees and the Leaf Gulper makes short work of cleaning the leaves both during the fall and the spring when those pesky leaves have snuck in under the cover. It is easy to use and lightweight enough that the kids can use it. We love that it doesn't clog our filter with leaves and debris."

A MUST HAVE for Fall clean up!,
November 28, 2007
By kubotafoot
from Burlington, CT
|
Pros: Inexpensive, long lasting, really gulps!
Cons: Works best on LOTS of leaves, worse on single strays
"This is the best invention for Fall clean up I have ever used. We call it "The Witches hat" because we use it in the fall (Halloween) and it resembles a witch hat when it is in use. It works with water pressure from a garden hose (can use your house faucet or your pump for your pool cover, either work fine.) I have a 40 foot long pool and I get all the leaves out in minutes with this great tool. Your pool filter doesn't get overworked or cloged. You just empty the mesh bag into a wheelbarrow and then push it to your compost bin and"ta da" you're done. If you hate cleaning leaves out of your pool....PLEEEEEEEEASE....buy this and see how easy it is."

Can't Do Without,

Pros: Best tool for the job.
Cons: Only lasts 15 years
"I found out how much I missed my old Leaf Gulper this year. After 15 years of use, my old one cracked last spring. I failed to replace it and when it came time to close my pool for the season remembered how useful it was. I struggled to get the leaves off the bottom using any other device. I since purchased a new one and have it ready for next year."

Pros: picks up leafs and trash like a Vacum.
Cons: NONE
"I waited a little too long to get my pool ready for winter and the water temp was way down. Didn't want to get in the pool to remove leafs and grass. Hooked up this Item and it grabed every leaf, stick and grass blade from the bottom. No need to get in the pool. Don't know how i got along before!!"

Leaf Gulpher,

Pros: Great Product, especially for the fall/winter maintenace with pools with leave issues
"During the fall we have issues with leaves and pine straw. Regular vacuums have problems picking these items up. The way this product was developed, it picks up the large items, then you can go back and do your regular vacuuming for the smaller dirt and debris left over."

Does the trick!,
August 30, 2007
By poolmom1

Pros: Sucks up large leaves from bottom of pool, prevents clogging your filter
Cons: No directions included, may still need to vacuum small particles
"I bought this mainly to prolong the life of my filter. I figured it would be better to suck up large leaves through this and dump them, rather than vacuuming them up. It does work, but doesn't collect the smaller pieces of debris well. You still have to vacuum those. Overall, it serves the purpose I wanted it to so I'm happy with it. I didn't give it 5 stars because it didn't come with any directions at all!"

Pros: quick and simple
Cons: none
"I have a variable slope pool that goes to 8 ft deep and after a good windy day the leaves seem to like the deep end in the corners, the leaf gulper makes it so simple to get down there and suck them out without getting my filter all clogged up numerous times using a conventional vacuum. . Definatley recommend to all."
