Skimer Sock,
July 25, 2009
By bgarner
from Near Hosuton Texas
|
Pros: Great for larger debris like bugs and leafs
Cons: it does not help with the finer particles of dirt
"This is great and keeps the larger debris from entering you filter pump. It however does not get rid of finer particles of dirt and scum that will be caught by your filter. Do not think you can put this on your skimmer and keep your filter in your pump clean. It is really more helpful in catching the larger depris that is smaller than what the normal skimmer can catch like ants and smaller bug and leaf parts that could go through the strainer basket."

Must Have for Pools!,
July 19, 2009
By Shoes
from Minneapolis
|
Pros: stops cotton, pine needles and small debris, easy install
Cons: didn't buy it two years ago!
"This simple little filter stocking has saved us so much hassle. The cottonwoods have been dropping cotton terribly this year and were constantly coating our filters -- until we put the filter savers on the skimmer baskets. What a great product. Buy these!"

Pros: these really help keep the small particles from clogging filter
Cons: maybe they could last longer as they end up tearing
"We use these regularly and they have helped a lot with all the little particles that get in the pool. We wash them off with a hose and use them again. Less cleaning of the filter!"

Required Equipment!,
July 11, 2009
By Ernie
from Iowa

"The filter savers do an amazing job of filtering out the dust from our gravel road. We could not have a clean pool without them! They rinse clean, and are reusable for at least the entire season. These are required equipment for our pool- I wouldn't run the filter without them!"

Great helper to the filter,
June 16, 2009
By Travis
from Panama, NE
|
Pros: Helps "Pre-clean" water before going to filter
Cons: Increases chlorine use (If you put tabs in skimmer basket)
"I highly recommend these filters. You don't have to backwash as much when in place. I have noticed a higher "draw" on the 3" chlorine pucks (about 50% faster) but I put pucks in skimmer basket. No big deal but something to think about.

A Must Use,
July 2, 2008
By tdpgh
from Pittsburgh,PA
|
Pros: Keeps pool filters working at peak performance
Cons: NONE
"I've been using these for 9 years and wouldn't start my filter (DE) without them. They last very long and keep all of the finer materials out of the filter. I recommend rinsing with a garden hose every couple of days and even hand washing with dish soap once a week. They last very long if you take care of them. One bag should last an entire season."

Truly a "must have" item for pool owners,
June 26, 2008
By Anonymous
|
Pros: Cuts down on filter cleaning, keeps pool cleaner
Cons: Chlorine tabs eat the fabric
"This is truly a must have item for any pool owner. You'll be amazed at all the gunk that it collects, which you can then quickly rinse out. It has cut my filter cleaning by at least half, and when I do clean the filter, it's not caked up with gunk and debris, just fine particles and an occasional pine needle.
My pool guy had told me to put chlorine tabs in the skimmer basket rather than in a floater, but you can't do that with these as they'll eat the fabric quickly. Otherwise, I have had no problems with them lasting a long time.
You do need to keep an eye on them, as instructed, to make sure they don't get too clogged, as that will put a strain on your pump. But if they are getting clogged frequently, that's stuff that would have been getting caught in your filter otherwise, and it's much easier to get it out of these things than from the filter.
Such a great product, that I don't even mind too much that they are totally overpriced, like so many other pool products. It must cost all of a nickle to make a package of these things in China, but they're still worth the money for what they do."
