Pros: Keeps pool sparkling and very clean
Cons: No instructions in box about backwashing
"This is a great product. However, there were no instructions in the box (I bought the unlabeled large box instead of the bags). I changed the sand to zeobrite. Without backwashing (Duh) the next day my pool was super cloudy! I called Zeobrite direct and was told I was suppose to backwash before the first use. The agent was very nice and we had the pool cleared up in a couple of days. Moral of the story: BACKWASH BEFORE USING ZEOBRITE. In the swim had no instructions in the box about backwashing."

"I was going to have to change the sand in my filter anyway, so decided to try Zeobrite. Seems to be doing a good job. Have only had it in the filter for 2 months. Water is clear."

"Yes, the product is very dusy at first. Backwash a lot before you run water through pool. We didn't quite have all the dust out before running pool, but it cleared QUICKLY. 2 days to sparkling water at startup this year! We use less chemicals and vac and backwash less often than last year as well! I would HIGHLY recommend this product! <3!"

"this is the 2nd time we have purchased zeobrite. the 1st time we had no problems, this time I can't get the water clear, despite backwashing and removing all the zeobrite to see if a lateral was cracked. It seems to have a lot of sediment that makes the water cloudy as soon as you enter the pool."

"Zeobrite sand filter media may cost a bit more than filter sand but is well worth the extra cost. My pool cleans faster and stays clean longer. Another benefit is that I don't have to change it as often as I did the sand. For me, that is the worst part of pool care. I'll never go back to filter sand."

"For filtering, I can't really tell the difference from regular sand. My pool is clear so it must be working.
However, there is a lot of dust. I backwashed until clear before using, but I still ended up with quite a bit in the bottom of my pool. It's extremely fine and disburses with the slightest current. Vacuuming followed by immediate backwash seems to help, though."

"This sand was not compatible with my filter and it blew all 100#'s into the bottom of my pool. Don't waste your time and money on this product. I would do some serious research before putting anything into your filter that is not specifically recommended by the manufacturer."

"I gave Zeobrite a 1 because you can't give it a 0. I used Zeobrite last year at the beginning of the season. It worked unbelievably well at first. After a month our pool started getting cloudy and I couldn't fix it. Finally, I took a sample to my local pool shop and they gave me what I needed to fix the water. In 2 days the pool was cloudy again. we did the same thing 4 times, back to the pool shop, lots of $$$ in chemicals and cloudy in 2-3 days. Finally, the pool shop asked the "old pro" to look over our charts and talk to us. He said "Are you using Zeobrite?" needless to say we went back to sand and the water cleared up and stayed clear. We called the company and discussed it with them and they asked us to send them a sample of our used Zeobrite which we did (at our expense) and they never called us back.
This product cost us hundreds of dollars in needless chemicals and the company was very poor to deal with!"

Cons: Watch for the dust as you put it in the filter vessal.
"Pool was cloudy all summer with so many bathers. Decided to try the Zeobrite from the other reviews.
I was amazed that within 2 days the pool had cleared a 1000%. Worked very fast and the water looked great.
Just make sure to wear a dust mask when pouring into the filter housing. Very dusty. Products that I order from In the Swim arrive almost before I get off the phone and the prices are very competitive, compared to the local pool suppliers. Two thumbs up for In the Swim....."

"For 6 weeks I have been struggling with cloudy water. As the last resort I decided to try changing my filter sand to the Zeobrite...I'm really glad I did now. I changed the sand and put in some Pool First Aid last night. This morning the water was crystal clear! I wish I had known this a long time ago! Will order again when the time comes to replace it."

"I ordered the Zeobrite at the same time I ordered a new sand filter.. My pool was getting quite green by the time I installed the new filter. In just under 24 hours my water was almost clear and in less than 48....clear as a bell. Regular sand would have given me the same results but not in that short of time frame. I will order Zeobrite again when I'm ready to replace."

"Zeobrite does everythig it advertises. Since I replaced the sand in my filter with Zeobrite, I have cut chemical cost in half and have to spend less that half as much time cleaning and maintaining the pool water. I am truly amazed at the results and highly reccommend Zeobrite to everyone who has a sand filter. Thanks for a great product."

"What a great product. I have struggled the last 2 seasons keeping my pool water clear using traditional pool sand in my filter. The sand is unable to filter out the tiny particles resulting in cloudy water. Within days of replacing the sand with Zeobrite the water was crystal clear. I would recomend this product to anyone using a sand filter. Great results in no time at all."

"This brought new life to my sand filter. The water is clear, I back wash about less than half as much. Lower operating pressure allows vacuum to run better and less work on the pump.
Oh yeah and it filters like crazy !!"

Pros: Out lasts sand and filters better
"Use half as much as sand and really lasts 5 years. Don't have to back wash as often as sand and keeps pool water sparkling clear. Automatic pools cleaners work more efficently with Zeobrite and take less time to clean pool."
