Good, sturdy ladder, July 6, 2008
By Jim911 from Chicago, IL

"This ladder came with our pool but the plastic flanges break too easily. The metal ones won't break and help sturdy the ladder much more. I loaded all the steps with pavers but it still moves around much more than I'd like. I'm going to try pouring concrete into all the slots to add more weight."

Great Purchase, October 5, 2007
By Dancer

Pros: Good price and stability
Cons: none

"This was fairly easy to install. Much more stable than our previous ladder. It's a great product. I did purchase the optional "ladder pad" and its not worth it."

Great Ladder, August 23, 2007
By castiron63

Pros: Stability, Price, Appearance, Safety
Cons: The bottom step (read on...)

"If you are looking for a great ladder to connect your above ground pool with an adjacent wood deck, this is an excellent choice. Once it is properly weighted down and attached to the deck, this ladder is amazingly stable. Mine does not budge. The treads provide excellent foot grip and do not require any sort of friction tape. Installation is simple providing you have the correct size hole saw or forstner bit to drill two holes in your deck for the handrails. This ladder is particularly good if you have very large or elderly family members or guests. Very attractive and durable so far. The only area which needs improvement is the size of the pockets in the bottom tread. There are four hollow cavities in this tread, designed to hold bricks to make the ladder more dense and have it sink firmly to the bottom of the pool. First of all, you need 4 patio pavers, not standard bricks. The smallest patio pavers I could find barely fit and I had to pound them into place with substantial force. Given the fact that the ladder is made in Canada, I wonder if Canada uses a metric size patio paver which is a few millimeters smaller in thickness, which would fit perfectly. It's a minor problem which should not deter you from considering this great pool product."

Love it!, August 22, 2007
By Tigers from Baton Rouge, LA

Pros: Easier and safer access to the pool

"I wish I had bought this sooner. We added a deck and this ladder makes it much easier to get in and out of the pool. It is much more sturdier and heavier than the original pool ladder we had. I would highly reccommend this ladder, it was easy to assemble and install."

Great ladder, August 22, 2007
By MrJK

Pros: Easy to install

"The ladder was easy to install. If you follow the directions you should have no problem. I did not have to install bricks or anything to weight it down, just make sure you attach the flangs to the deck and install a scew through the flang into the rail on both sides."

A Huge Difference, August 22, 2007
By TikiSummer

Pros: Sure footed and easy access to pool. Looks very professional.
Cons: None

"I bought this ladder to replace the standard gray one that came with my out of ground pool. The original ladder looked cheap and tacky. Since my out of ground pool is sunk into a large deck with planters and palm shrubs the new ladder adds a definite "in ground" appearance. The ladder also provides easy and safe access to the pool and is very sturdy. I also found that by not inserting the screws into the base mounting I can easily lift the ladder out to allow the pool cleaner to do its work effectively. The ladder is a well designed and good product and I would not hesitate to recommend it to any one who wants to improve the look and the access to their pool."

Awesome ladder, August 22, 2007
By TomP

Pros: Sturdy, easy to assemble
Cons: Lightweight

"By lightweight I mean it's a bit floaty. If you put in two small paver bricks into the areas provided, it's perfect. It's a good heavy duty ladder that's I've already recommended to a friend :)"

Not impressed, August 22, 2007
By jadams1218

Pros: Seems to be a very strong ladder
Cons: It floats

"The ladder seems to be very well made and very comfortable to use but even after putting 12 small bricks in the available spaces, the ladder would not remain on the bottom of the pool. Maybe it had something to do with the fact that this was a replacement ladder and I used the same deck fitting to mount it. From what I can see that should not have made a difference."

Great value, August 22, 2007
By Chipperboy

Pros: Easy to install, lightweight
Cons: Tends to want to float

"This ladder was a great investment. I did a lot of shopping around and found this one a a good price. It was my first purchase at In the Swim and it won't be my last. I was impressed by how quickly it arrived. It was very easy to install and I like the way it looks. My previous ladder had metal handles and it ended up looking rusty."

very good product, July 10, 2007
By phoneman

Pros: lightweight only plastic in water no metal
Cons: ladder floats needs weight added

"Nice product but it will try to float up. Can't put a ladder pad below it inbetween liner because it is not heavy enough to hold it down.I put 4 bricks in the bottom step cut-outs not heavy enough yet.might try filling with cement next?"

LUV MY IN GROUND LADDER, June 14, 2007
By MsWillie

Pros: Easy in and out with this ladder
Cons: You have to put stones in yourself to weigh it down

"In response to icegator's review:
He said:
"This is a solid ladder and is lightweight. Make sure you cut your hole through your deck on the small side. This will keep the ladder from raising up and moving."
My response:
You don't need to cut your holes on the small side in your deck in order to keep it from sliding up and down. Once you have the flanges screwed down onto the deck and you insert the aluminum handles, you simply predrill a hole right through the neck of the plastic flange and into the ladder handle itself, and simply insert a screw (I used the white head screws used for aluminum siding, they blend in too). This keeps the handle from sliding up and down through the deck holes. Remember to do it for both handles and as an extra measure, I also did it to the handles that insert into the ladder neck. Also they tell you to add some weight to the bottom step, I placed clean stones tied inside canvas bags and stuffed them into the little compartments on the backside of the bottom step, works great! Gives it a nice solid feel!
Ms. Willie"
